The Short Salkantay Trek is the condensed version of the famous route to Machu Picchu—perfect for travelers who want to experience breathtaking landscapes in less time. In just 3 days, you’ll explore glaciers, turquoise lagoons, lush valleys, and cloud forest, ending with a visit to the majestic Inca citadel. This is an ideal adventure for those looking to make the most of their time in Cusco while enjoying nature, culture, and outdoor exploration.




Day 1: Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lagoon – Chaullay
Early departure from Cusco to Soraypampa (3,900 m / 12,795 ft). Begin the hike to the stunning Humantay Lagoon, followed by an ascent to the Salkantay Pass (4,650 m / 15,255 ft), the highest point of the trek. Continue descending toward Chaullay, passing through transitional landscapes into the high jungle. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
Day 2: Chaullay – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes
Trek through the Santa Teresa Valley, surrounded by coffee, banana, and tropical fruit plantations. Arrive at Hidroeléctrica for lunch, then continue either on foot or by train to Aguas Calientes. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Machu Picchu – Cusco
Early morning bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of approximately 2 hours. Free time to explore the site at your own pace. Return to Aguas Calientes, take the train to Ollantaytambo, and then transfer back to Cusco.
