The Classic Inca Trail is one of the world’s most iconic trekking adventures, taking you along ancient Inca paths through breathtaking mountains, cloud forests, and centuries-old archaeological sites — all leading to the mystical citadel of Machu Picchu. Over four days, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the Incas, camping under the stars and walking through landscapes that change with every step. This is more than a hike — it’s a journey through history, culture, and the heart of the Andes.

Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba
We begin with an early hotel pick-up in Cusco around 5:00 a.m. and drive to Km 82, the official starting point of the Inca Trail. After meeting the trekking team and passing through the checkpoint, we start the hike alongside the Urubamba River, enjoying spectacular views of the Andean valleys and archaeological sites like Llactapata. We’ll stop for lunch along the way and continue to the first campsite at Wayllabamba (approx. 3,000 m), where you’ll enjoy dinner and rest under the stars.
Day 2: Wayllabamba – Dead Woman’s Pass – Pacaymayo
This is the most challenging but rewarding day. After breakfast, we begin a long ascent through cloud forests and high-altitude grasslands until we reach the highest point of the trek: Warmiwañusca (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215 meters. Take in the incredible views and sense of achievement before descending to our second campsite at Pacaymayo, where lunch and dinner are served.
Day 3: Pacaymayo – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna
After breakfast, we continue the trek, passing several well-preserved Inca sites such as Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca. This is the most scenic day, offering views of lush valleys and ancient ruins. In the afternoon, we descend through the rainforest to our final campsite at Wiñay Wayna, one of the most beautiful and sacred sites on the trail. Here, we enjoy a celebratory dinner and rest before the big day.
Day 4: Wiñay Wayna – Inti Punku – Machu Picchu – Cusco
We wake up very early (around 3:30 a.m.) to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) just in time for sunrise over Machu Picchu. This moment is the emotional highlight of the entire journey. After entering the citadel, you’ll have a guided tour of the most important temples, terraces, and plazas. You’ll then have free time to explore or climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional, must be booked in advance). Later, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
