The Ausangate Trek is one of the most breathtaking hikes in the Peruvian Andes, combining glacier landscapes, colorful lagoons, snow-capped peaks, and high-Andean communities that preserve their ancestral traditions. Over 4 days, you’ll hike along trails surrounded by the majestic Ausangate Mountain (6,384 m / 20,945 ft), relax in natural hot springs, and finish with a visit to the world-famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) — one of Peru’s most iconic destinations.

DAY 1: CUSCO – TINKI – UPIS
Early departure from Cusco towards Tinki, a small Andean village where our trek begins. We’ll hike to Upis (4,400 m / 14,436 ft), enjoying views of Ausangate along the way. In the afternoon, you can relax in the hot springs before dinner and camping overnight.
DAY 2: UPIS – ARAPA PASS – PUCA COCHA LAGOON
After breakfast, we’ll ascend to Arapa Pass (4,850 m / 15,912 ft) for stunning views of alpine landscapes and turquoise lagoons. We’ll then descend to Puca Cocha Lagoon, located at the foot of Ausangate, where we’ll camp surrounded by spectacular scenery.
DAY 3: PUCA COCHA LAGOON – PALOMANI PASS – PAMPA JANCA
Today we’ll hike up to Palomani Pass (5,200 m / 17,060 ft), the highest point of the trek, offering panoramic views of glaciers and deep valleys. We’ll descend to Pampa Janca for dinner and our final night camping.
DAY 4: PAMPA JANCA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – CUSCO
We’ll start early to reach the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), arriving before the crowds to fully enjoy the stunning view. Afterward, we’ll descend to Chillihuani village to take our private transport back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 p.m.
